MATTER OF BALANCE. This is an eight week session -educational fall prevention course for older adults. This course is designed to change your environment to reduce the risk of falls and to promote strength and balance exeercises. By taking this course the fear of falling will no longer interfere in yur normal social activities. The the Matter of Balance course and learn to enjoy living again. Classes are taught by Mary Simpler, Catholic Charities Health Promotions Specialist.

Class is limited to 12 and will run Mondays from 1:30-3:30 p. m. beginning April 23 at Shepherd of Grace, Becker. For information or to make reservations contact Carol at 763) 262-8000, ext. 3000.

COLORECTAL CANCER SCREENING. Receive a free screening for colorectal cancer in March, in recognition of Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Pick up the immunochemical fecal occult blood test (iFOBT) colon cancer screening kit at the drive-up window at CentraCare Pharmacy at St. Cloud Hospital or the Coborn Cancer Center at CentraCare Health Plaza. Kits are available to the first 194 people, age 40 or older. There is a limit of one kit per person with a signed consent form.

Consent forms are available at either distribution site. Simply follow the instructions and mail back by April 30, 2012. Screening kits only are available during March or while supplies last. No diet or medication restrictions are necessary with these new and improved screening kits.

The screening is offered by Coborn Cancer Center in collaboration with the Hind Site Alliance, CentraCare Digestive Center, CentraCare Laboratory Services and CentraCare Pharmacy.

The kit, with processing fee, is valued at $50. This test does not replace a colonoscopy which is the best method to detect colorectal cancer. To schedule your colonoscopy, please call the CentraCare Digestive Center at (320) 229-4916.
